The Prefecture of Salerno set up a crisis unit to manage disruptions caused by a truckers' blockade affecting the province, according to Il Mattino's Salerno edition.
The unit received more than 300 requests through a dedicated communication channel operating around the clock. In response, police forces enabled 50 protected transit corridors to keep supermarkets supplied with essential goods.
The operation also included 90 escort services and 52 escorts specifically for fuel distribution. More than 100 personnel and 50 police patrols were mobilised, the report says.
Operations covered five macro-areas of the province and extended beyond Salerno's provincial boundaries where needed.
Particular attention was given to fresh food supplies, including fruit and vegetables, dairy products, the fruit and vegetable market of Nocera-Pagani, and the fish market in Salerno.
Waste collection and street cleaning continued without significant disruption, although municipal waste collection centres were temporarily closed, according to the same report.
The exact dates and duration of the blockade, the routes used for the protected corridors, and the operational distinction between escort services and corridors were not specified in the available report, and no independent official source was found to corroborate the figures.
