Police operations in Campania escorted or facilitated the movement of 720 heavy trucks during the hauliers' protest, including 510 in the province of Naples, according to reporting by Il Mattino.

About 500 trucks were assisted in passing through the agro-food market in Volla during the night. Approximately 600 people were identified, and vehicle registration plates were recorded for checks and possible sanctions.

Authorities arranged an extraordinary plan to protect supplies of food, medicines and fuel. The measures also aimed to maintain operations at the Acerra waste-to-energy plant and waste-treatment facilities.

The prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, said the right to protest was not being questioned, but demonstrations had to respect legal rules.

The Guardia di Finanza carried out checks against possible price speculation, with initial sanctions reported.
