Upper-secondary students in Pomigliano d'Arco took to the streets to protest school building conditions, the rising cost of school materials and the wider cost of living.
According to the report from Il Mattino, the march was largely peaceful, but a group of students from the Itis Barsanti broke away from the main procession.
That breakaway group allegedly threw firecrackers and eggs at three schools: the Liceo Matilde Serao, the Liceo Cantone and the Liceo Imbriani.
The Unione degli Studenti (UDS) distanced the main demonstration from the incidents, describing those responsible as a minority. The union linked the protest to structural problems in local schools, including flooding reported at three institutes and the lack of Wi-Fi connection at the Barsanti.
The same report mentions a separate episode in Acerra, where the car of the principal of the Munari institute was reportedly damaged.
What remains unclear from the available source is how many students took part, how long the demonstration lasted, and whether any individual responsibility was established or disciplinary action followed. The outcome of a requested meeting between a student delegation and the mayor of Pomigliano d'Arco was also not documented.
