A 58-year-old worker is in critical condition after a workplace accident at the municipal cemetery in Poggiomarino, according to a report by Il Mattino.
The incident reportedly occurred during a burial in a private chapel. The man, described as a resident of Scafati employed by a funeral-services company, fell from a ladder from a height of about three metres.
According to the report, he hit his head in the fall and suffered multiple fractures. He was taken by ambulance to Ospedale del Mare, where he was reported to be in intensive care, in a coma and in life-threatening condition.
Carabinieri from Poggiomarino and the Torre Annunziata mobile unit responded to the cemetery following the accident.
The circumstances of the fall remain under investigation. The names of the worker and the company involved have not been reported, and no further medical update was available in the material reviewed.
