Naples Capodichino Airport is scheduled to close from 1 to 30 November 2026 for deep runway-renovation works. During the closure, GESAC and Busitalia Campania have activated a special bus connection between Napoli Piazza Garibaldi and Salerno Costa d'Amalfi Airport.

The service is intended to facilitate use of Salerno airport as an alternative while Capodichino is closed.

The special Napoli–Salerno airport connection

The special service runs between Napoli Piazza Garibaldi and Salerno Costa d'Amalfi Airport, with eight daily trips in each direction.

The fare is €12 per passenger per journey. Tickets can be bought on board by electronic payment.

Piazza Garibaldi is a central Naples transport hub, which makes it a practical departure and arrival point for passengers travelling between Naples and Salerno airport during the closure period.

What travellers should know

If you are flying in November, check whether your flight has been moved to Salerno Costa d'Amalfi Airport before you travel to the airport.

Allow extra time for the road transfer between Naples and Salerno. The available sources do not provide the complete timetable for all eight daily departures in each direction, so confirm departure times with the operators before your travel day.

Bring a means of electronic payment for the on-board fare, and keep your flight booking details with you to match the bus departure to your check-in time.

The available sources do not establish which specific flights or routes were transferred from Capodichino to Salerno, nor the operating conditions of the special service outside the 1–30 November 2026 closure period.

Salerno as Naples' alternative airport

Salerno Costa d'Amalfi is part of GESAC's complementary airport network with Naples, alongside Capodichino. Salerno was expected to become operational in the first half of July 2024, adding a second commercial airport for the Campania region.

Bus links already connect the Salerno area with Naples airport and central Naples, according to GESAC. The November shuttle builds on that regional connectivity by providing a direct Piazza Garibaldi–Salerno airport link for the duration of the Capodichino works.
