A 46-year-old Ukrainian man was found seriously injured after being stabbed three times in via Santa Maria della Fede, in the Arenaccia area of Naples.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. Emergency responders and State Police officers intervened after a passer-by reported a man lying in a pool of blood.
The victim was transported to the Ospedale del Mare, where he underwent emergency surgery. The wounds were reported on his back, left calf and left thigh, with the back wound considered the most serious.
He was initially described as being in extremely serious condition, but was later reported to be no longer in immediate danger of death. His prognosis remained reserved.
Police were considering two possibilities: a punitive attack or a fight that escalated. The motive had not been established, and the identity of the alleged attacker was not reported.
The victim could not initially be questioned because of his medical condition. The punitive-attack and alcohol-fuelled-fight explanations remain investigative hypotheses, not confirmed conclusions, and no later outcome of the investigation was available in the verified reporting.
Arenaccia is a Naples area spanning Municipalities III and IV, associated with the San Lorenzo and Vicaria districts.
