Cisl Funzione Pubblica has organized a public protest in Naples to defend the rights of workers who provide specialist educational support to pupils with disabilities.
The operators work alongside support teachers in school activities for pupils experiencing difficulties, forming part of the specialist assistance service within the education system.
The demonstration took place at Palazzo San Giacomo, bringing the issue directly before the municipal administration.
According to Cisl, approximately 1,000 operators are involved in the service.
Speaking for the union, secretary-general Nino Matteo called for certainty regarding the workers' economic entitlements and for their professional experience to be better used across the school system.
Cisl said the rights of disabled people, their families, and the personnel serving them must be protected.
What is not yet clear from the available reporting is the exact date and duration of the protest, the precise employment arrangements affecting the operators, or any formal response from the municipality.
