Students took to the streets in Pomigliano and Acerra to protest school conditions, school-related costs and the cost of living, according to Il Mattino.

In Pomigliano, a group of roughly one hundred demonstrators from the Eugenio Barsanti technical institute separated from the main procession and threw paper bombs, eggs, smoke bombs and firecrackers at other schools, the report said. The schools named as targets included the Matilde Serao, Salvatore Cantone and Vittorio Imbriani schools.

A girl was slightly injured by a firecracker during the protest, according to the same report.

Police and Carabinieri monitored the demonstration, and some people were identified in connection with the explosions, the source reports.

A student delegation was later received by Raffaele Russo, the Mayor of Pomigliano d'Arco. The students presented a list of reported deficiencies, including broken fixtures, unusable bathrooms, heating and cooling problems, damaged doors and windows, exposed wires, flooding and connectivity issues.

Russo secured a meeting in Naples with representatives of the Citta Metropolitana, described in the report as the authority responsible for upper-secondary schools.

The reported deficiencies come from the students' list as quoted in the news report; no technical inspection findings were included in the material reviewed, and the extent of physical damage to the schools was not fully documented.
