Carabinieri in Giugliano have reported four people for alleged illegal waste management following checks along the coastal strip from Lago Patria to Varcaturo and inland at Qualiano. Vehicles, land and waste were seized during the operation.

The checks were carried out by Carabinieri from the Giugliano company, with support from the Terra dei Fuochi control room and personnel from Reggimento Campania, according to Il Mattino.

In via Ripuaria, at Varcaturo, officers stopped a Fiat Uno carrying about three cubic metres of waste, including three car engines and scrap vehicle parts. A second vehicle stopped in Varcaturo was transporting about four cubic metres of glass, iron, wood, steel and plastic without authorization.

Near the Lago Patria exit on the former SS162, officers stopped a van loaded with cardboard packaging, polystyrene and chipboard.

In Qualiano, authorities identified an alleged illegal waste deposit behind a vehicle repair shop, containing mechanical parts, paint-soaked rags and plastic materials. An adjacent area of about 1,500 square metres held damaged vehicles and bodywork parts, the report says.

The workshop, the land, the vehicles involved and the waste were seized. Four people were reported for illegal waste management; two of them also face an allegation of receiving stolen goods.

The report places the operation in the context of ongoing remediation activity in the Giugliano area by the commissioner's structure led by General Vadalà.

A report to prosecutors is an investigative measure and does not establish a final conviction. The report does not give the names of the people reported or the precise date and time of each intervention.
