More than fifty citizens and associations gathered in Piazza Spirito Santo in Marano to protest violence and mistreatment of animals.
The demonstration followed an incident reported a few days earlier, in which a woman allegedly seized a beagle and threw it down a flight of stairs during an argument, according to Il Mattino.
The dog reportedly suffered injuries to its legs and was entrusted to ASL veterinarians. The woman involved was reportedly the subject of a complaint.
What has not been reported includes the dog's current medical condition, the identity of the woman and the dog's owner, the detailed circumstances of the argument, and the legal classification and outcome of the complaint. The names of the participating associations have also not been reported.
