A 20-year-old was arrested in Cardito after allegedly failing to stop for police and leading officers on a dangerous scooter chase, according to a report by Il Mattino.

The incident occurred the previous afternoon, the report says. Officers from the Afragola police station ordered the young man to stop in via Nuova Belvedere, but he allegedly continued on instead.

The pursuit reportedly involved dangerous manoeuvres, including driving the wrong way along via Nino Taranto. During an attempt to avoid a collision, the police vehicle struck a kerb and was damaged, according to the report.

The chase ended in via Guttuso, where the suspect allegedly abandoned his scooter and tried to hide among parked cars before being stopped by officers.

According to the report, officers found the young man carrying a knife with an 8 cm blade and a dose of hashish.

The reported charges include dangerous flight, resistance to a public official, damage to public property, and carrying a weapon for which a licence is not permitted. The report also says he received an administrative sanction for possession of drugs for personal use.

The suspect was not named in the available report, which did not specify the exact quantity of hashish or the subsequent judicial outcome. The allegations reported at this stage should not be treated as a final conviction.
