An area of more than 25,000 square meters in Palma Campania has been placed under urgent preventive seizure over alleged environmental and building violations, according to reporting by Il Mattino Napoli.
The site is in the Vallone d'Aiello area and is described as a former state-owned quarry granted to a company for the creation of a shooting range.
Inspectors from the Carabinieri Forestale unit of Roccarainola reportedly found building abuses, alterations to the state of the land, and unauthorized large-scale excavations and embankments. The area is reported to be subject to landscape protection and described as non-buildable.
The reported allegations also include damage to works connected with Italy's PNRR recovery plan and the uprooting of public trees planted as part of a European-funded forestation project.
The urgent criminal preventive seizure covers both the area and deposited fill material. The mayor of Palma Campania has been appointed judicial custodian of the site and the materials.
The available reporting does not identify the concession-holding company or any suspects, nor does it specify the dates of the inspections or the execution of the seizure. The allegations remain at the investigative stage and have not been established by a final judgment.
