Work is continuing toward the reopening of the Pozzuoli–Napoli Campi Flegrei section of Naples Metro Line 2, after a closure in recent weeks linked to safety checks in the tunnels.

Regional councillor Fiorella Zabatta said work with RFI is continuing without pause to restore the connection for residents, workers and students. In her words: "Si lavora incessantemente". RFI has separately described progress as encouraging, saying: "Siamo a buon punto".

The central technical issue discussed in the available reports is the presence of carbon dioxide in the tunnel environment. According to RFI, CO2 concentrations have fallen significantly after the installation of turbines used to move air through the tunnels.
