A 40-year-old man was arrested in Castellammare di Stabia after allegedly pursuing his 46-year-old partner as she fled from her car with her face covered in blood.
The incident took place on via Pozzillo. According to Il Mattino, the woman sought refuge inside a commercial premises while the man continued to pursue her.
An off-duty carabiniere from the Sezione Radiomobile happened to be inside the shop. He intervened and blocked the man as he was about to attack the woman again, preventing further violence.
A patrol subsequently arrived and arrested the man. He is described as unemployed and previously convicted. The reported charges are domestic abuse and personal injury.
The woman was treated at the hospital in Castellammare di Stabia for a nasal-bone fracture and bruising to her upper lip, with a reported recovery period of 30 days.
