The Provincial Police of Caserta have seized two illegal waste-disposal areas in Cancello ed Arnone containing asbestos and eternit sheets.
The sites were located near agricultural land, where the hazardous materials had been illegally abandoned or stored. Officers placed both areas under seizure and made them available to the judicial authorities.
The operation was coordinated by Provincial Police commander Biagio Chiariello. According to reports in Il Mattino and corroborating local coverage, those responsible were reported for offences involving the creation and management of an illegal hazardous-waste dump.
Investigations are continuing to establish where the asbestos came from and whether further responsibility can be identified.
The reports do not give the exact locations of the two sites, the quantity of material seized, or the identities of the people reported. There is also no confirmed information yet on asbestos-removal or remediation work at the seized areas.
